Patient Information

Please Read

Herron Dermatology has evolved over the past years, especially after the pandemic. We are unable to offer patients walk in appointments, same day appointments, and urgent care appointments. If you have an urgent need or a skin emergency, please realize that you will need to be seen in an urgent care setting. You may find other practices able to handle your urgent needs.

In addition, there are cosmetic conditions that we do not feel we have the expertise in treating. Herron Dermatology is a medical and surgical dermatology practice. Dr. Herron is not a cosmetic physician and your cosmetic needs are best addressed by a plastic surgeon. Cosmetic concerns such as scarring, hair loss, and pigment changes are best addressed by a cosmetic dermatologist that has the latest techniques to provide the best results for you. Herron Dermatology is no scheduling cosmetic appointments for Dr. Mark Herron or Kelli Riddle, PA.

Office Policies

Office Visits

New patients should arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. This will allow adequate time to complete the required paperwork. Any patient who is more than 10 minutes late for their appointment may be asked to reschedule.

Cell Phone Usage

We kindly ask that you do not use your cell phone during your medical visit at our practice. There is no phone call that is more important than your time with your physician.

Cancellation Policy

It is the patient’s responsibility to remember their scheduled appointment. We ask for 24-hour notice when canceling appointments.

No-Show policy

Patients that cannot keep their appointments are asked to cancel the appointment so that we may fill your appointment spot. If you fail to cancel appointments on a regular basis you may be subject to dismissal from our practice.

Insurance Policy

If we are contracted with an insurance plan under which you are covered, we will bill the insurance carrier for you. It is the patient’s responsibility for the remaining balance, including insurance deductibles, co-payments, coinsurances, and charges for non-covered or cosmetic services.

If your insurance requires a referral, it is the patient’s responsibility to have their referral at the time of their visit. If you do not have your referral, then you will need to reschedule your appointment.

Co-payment Policy

Co-pays are due at the time of service. We do not bill for co-pays. If your co-pay is not indicated on your card, you may be required to pay 20% of the total charge for the visit during checkout. If there is a credit after all insurance payments have been received, a refund will be issued to you. All major credit cards are accepted, excluding Discover.

There is a $35.00 processing fee for returned checks.

Termination Policy

Herron Dermatology reserves the right to terminate patients from the practice. Patients that are rude and abusive to staff will be terminated from the practice. Reasons for termination may include, but may not be limited to disruptive and abusive behavior to staff, non-payment, failure to follow clinical advice or treatment, refusal to treat skin cancers, and failure to keep follow-up appointments.

Insurance Coverage

If you have insurance through a company that we have contracted with, we will bill your insurance company for the visit. We will require a copy of your insurance card and a driver’s license. All co-payments, co-insurances, and deductibles are due at the time of visit, with no exceptions. You will be responsible for any services denied by your insurance carrier as not medically necessary and/or not covered.
